Solo Camping on a Small Island with the Hilleberg Unna | Packraft Adventure | Firebox Camp Cooking
Join me on my first camping trip with my new packraft. After a nice hike along the lake I use the packraft to make my way to a couple islands I have been wanting to visit for quite some time. After a bit of exploring I was lucky enough to find a beautiful campsite right next to the water on one of the islands. I had a bit of misfortune with my camera, but after that, I was able to still make a nice meal and enjoy the rest of my evening waterside. I have always loved canoe camps but it was really nice to have a boat that I can hike with which allows me to get on and off the water quickly! Excited for the new camping possibilities this will bring. Hope you enjoy the video!

Join me on a summit camp in Snowdonia, Wales. After having an extremely wet and windy winter that has crept into spring, I finally get some incredible weather and views from the tent. Per usual there was quite a bit of unexpected rain, sleet, and snow on the hike up to the summit. But the forecast was right for once, and the skies finally opened up and I had a beautiful after and evening NOT s...

    Excellent video - thanks for sharing and yeh - things can go bad quickly. Some thoughts do spring to mind - try Paramo kit. Trousers and jacket would have dried out from body heat alone while you were in sleeping bag. You may even have got too warm in which case strip of jacket and trousers in the bag and scrunch them into any cold or windy bits. Meal looked great - porage oats rather than rice? I know it isn't really authentic but porage and hot water is almost instantly edible - and no I don't mean the horrible over machined stuff. In fact when pushed you can eat he oats dry - chew and swallow with a swig of water for an extra comfort boost. Reasoning: nothing is nicer than dry, warm kit first thing in the morning

    • @GoingSoloOutdoors
      @GoingSoloOutdoors День тому

      Thanks for watching 👍. My trousers would have dried if I kept them on (I’ve shown this in other videos) but since it wasn’t too cold I knew I’d be fine hiking out with them a bit wet in the morning so I just went for the immediate comfort of sitting in the sleeping bag. They actually dried out on the drive home. Oats are definitely great to bring on multi day trips. For these single night camps I just stick with the rice. Especially with this dish. Really appreciate you watching and taking the time to comment. All the best.

      Most waterproofs are not exactly waterproof. With enough prolonged exposure to intense rain they will all eventually wet out unless they are just made of plastics without any breathable membrane.
